A type of demon whose body is covered in tangled black fur. Alps appear in Norse mythology and come in two varieties: the light Ljosalfr and the dark dokkalfar. The word Alps normally refers to the former. In Alfheim. the paradise in which the elves of the sky live, they dance and bathe in the light of the moon.
When Christianity came to Scandinavia, the alps were branded a race of demons and have remained so ever since.

Empousa is a demigoddess of Greek mythology. In later incarnations she appeared as a species of monsters commanded by Hecate (known in English as an empuse).
She is often associated or grouped with the demigoddesses Lamia and Mormo, who were likewise related as a kind of spectres in later mythology (the lamias and mormolyceas, respectively).

The name for the daughters of Lilith, the first wife of Adam of the Old Testament of the Bible. They are amazingly beautiful and strongly resemble their mother.
The Lilim are said to bring harm to human children, and to seduce men who are caught in their gaze. They are often identified with succubi, and also with the Empusa of Greek mythology.

The name for the race of giants in modern mythology. The Fomori rule over death, evil and other spheres that evoke feelings of dread in humans. They are often depicted as a savage tribe with the heads of bulls, goats, and other beasts.
Led by the demon kings Balor and Indech, the Fomori fought off numerous armies. Balor in particular could render human armies powerless with his evil eye. He defeated many other tribes and even some gods. But at last he was defeated by his own grandson, the sun god Lugh.
It is said that the Fomori later chose to live together with other tribes.

An Incubus is a demon in male form supposed to lie upon sleepers, especially women, in order to have sexual intercourse with them, according to a number of mythological and legendary traditions. Its female counterpart is the Succubus. An incubus may pursue sexual relations with a woman in order to father a child, as in the legend of Merlin.
Religious tradition holds that repeated intercourse with an incubus or succubus may result in the deterioration of health, or even death.

A demon from European folklore during the medieval ages, which takes the form of an attractive female to seduce men. Its male counterpart is the Incubus. They draw energy from men to sustain themselves, often until the point of exhaustion or death of the victim.

The Loa are the spirits of the voodoo religion practiced in Louisiana, Haiti, Benin, and other parts of the world. They are also referred to as Mystères and the Invisibles, in which are intermediaries between Bondye (Bon Dieu, or good god) the Creator, who is distant from the world—and humanity. Unlike saints or angels however, they are not simply prayed to, they are served. They are each distinct beings with their own personal likes and dislikes, distinct sacred rhythms, songs, dances, ritual symbols, and special modes of service. Contrary to popular belief, the loa are not deities in and of themselves; they are intermediaries for a distant Bondye.

Queen Mab is a fairy mentioned in Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. This being also appears in other 17th century literature, and in various guises in later poetry, drama and cinema. In Romeo and Juliet, her appearance and behavior is told in a famous speech by Mercutio, in which she is described as a miniature creature who drives a chariot made of an empty hazelnut, which is drawn by gnats, that she drives across the faces of sleeping people and compels them to experience dreams according to their desires.

Lilith is a female Mesopotamian storm demon associated with wind and was thought to be a bearer of disease, illness, and death. The figure of Lilith first appeared in a class of wind and storm demons or spirits as Lilitu, in Sumer, circa 4000 BC. Many scholars place the origin of the phonetic name "Lilith" at somewhere around 700 BC despite post-dating even to the time of Moses. Lilith appears as a night demon in Jewish lore and as a screech owl in Isaiah 34:14 in the King James version of the Bible. In later folklore, "Lilith" is the name for Adam's first wife.
