The Cathedral of Shadows is one of the most important locations in the entire game. One can be found in every home city, each with its own quests and items. The Demonic Compendium and Demonic Compendium Memory shops can be found here, as well as the process to unlock the Demon Digitalize System.
NPCs
Master of the Cathedral of Shadows
The main NPC in every Cathedral of Shadows location who performs vital functions for the strengthening of demons.
- Demon Fusion
- Dyad fusion: the fusion of two separate demons to create a new demon. Nearly any two demons can be used, provided the Demon Family each demon belongs to produces a valid result.
- Trio/Triad Fusion: the fusion of three separate demons to create a new demon. Most triad fusions require a Plugin to be valid, and all three demons provided must come from three separate players, each with high enough happiness.
- Alternatively, one can perform a triad fusion themself at the Ikebukuro Cathedral of Shadows, using Kreuz and Raktavija's Bloodstones.
- Demon Rebirth
- Rebirthing a demon is like an "ascension"; the demon's level is returned to 1, but it is given stat bonuses following a set rebirth path. This feature costs Macca and Runestones, and is required to unlock a demon's full potential.
- Mitama Fusion ascends demons even further; dyad fusing a demon with at least 48 rebirths with a Mitama demon unlocks a demon's Demon Force slots, Features on certain demons, and resets all rebirths for even more stat-raising.
- Demon Rebirth Conversion
- Certain quests can be given depending on which Cathedral is visited.

Demonic Researcher (beside entrance)
Gives the Demonic Compendium and tasks the player with registering demons into their compendium using Demonic Compendium Memories (DCM) items.
- Rewards are handed out for every 10 entries added to the Compendium in the form of Plugins and passive stat increases.
- Sells Demonic Compendium Memories based on the city location and moon phase.

Gives out unique or hard-to-find demon-only skills.
- Sells certain skills for SP (obtained via WILDCAT).
- Demon Sacrifice: Sacrifice one Lvl 90+ demon to turn it into a Skill Orb, which can be taught to another demon.
- Demon Force: In the Ikebukuro Cathedral, this Researcher can unlock the Demon Force menu.
Demon Researcher Shiho (wall on the right, Shinjuku Babel)
Unlocks the Demon Digitalize System and BEARCAT.
- To unlock Digitalize Novice, fetch Shiho 10 MAG Presser α items. There is no quest associated.
- To unlock Digitalize Artisan, one of the following quests must be fulfilled:
